Portrait of Jay Karasu, Technical Artist and 3D Environment Specialist

I'm Jay, Senior Technical Artist and Photogrammetry Specialist with a deep focus on 3D environment art and full end-to-end 3D asset pipelines. I help teams create realistic and expansive 3D environments and 3D content — from precise photogrammetry scans to production-ready assets and immersive game worlds. My work blends artistry with technology, and I'm driven to optimize and automate workflows using innovative techniques and procedural methods.

Most recently, I worked at Raven Software as part of Activision's core development team, contributing to multiple Call of Duty titles. As a member of the Tech Art team, I focused on environment art, optimization, and photogrammetry pipelines, collaborating with art and engineering teams to build tools, write scripts, and solve technical challenges. I've led scanning trips across the UK and EU and worked closely with sister studios—including Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and High Moon Studios—to expand shared asset libraries and drive R&D efforts.

My career in game development began at Rebellion Developments, where I helped craft the worlds of Sniper Elite 5 as part of the photogrammetry team. Before games, I freelanced as a CG Generalist and VFX Supervisor, working with production studios and directors on projects for Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and VRT—experience that grounded me in on-set capture, 3D animations, full CG project cycles, and post-production VFX workflows.

I'm passionate about emerging technologies and procedural workflows, including GenAI tech, 3D Gaussian Splatting, and drone photogrammetry. Outside of work, you'll find me hiking, exploring nature, experimenting with new tech, or flying drones to capture beautiful scenery.
